[a SMB3 Tale I]

Meh

I'm starting to dislike sprite animation more and more, especially the ones that come in many parts with months intween.

I have to admit tho, the sprites you drew yourself were really good, and the animation was great (!) aswell. Very fluent, and not choppy, which is very refreshing to see in a Mario sprite movie.
What's NOT refreshing tho, is another adaption of the Super Mario Brothers adventure in a sprite flash movie. Go to the Mario collection page, there are dozens of these, some better, most inferior.
This movie could stand out more if you made your fightscenes more.. explosive.
Dont get me wrong, I liked the punching (well animated) and the little fight with the Hammer Brothers, but it just felt more like a warm up fight. Like one Mario & Luigi could easily win, especially with the prospect of fighting Bowser and all of his far superior children.
I was really disappointed Luigi had to die here, also because I always liked him better. But like I read in another review, bringing him back in a crucial moment would be sort of cliché. It'd be cooler if Mario had to train to avenge his brother. Also, Mario seemed hardly phased by Luigi's death. Anyways..
Extra points for the voice acting in the beginning, I liked the opening scene, tho it's weird there are two play buttons..
Also, please get rid of the edges that say "Presented by Newgrounds". It's annoying. Put it in the loading screen or something if you're afraid of thieves.

Okay, in short, you did well, just not really my cup of tea, and it really needs a little extra something.

This does not deserve such a high score.

This was shitty, despite the unoriginality. I'm not the biggest fan of these Mario Blooper movies, but I dont mind them, if they are made well.
You shouldnt lower the quality of the sprites as much as you did, because it looks really bad. Learn to work with sprites better if you want to make sprite movies.
Stretching sprites looks really horrid aswell, like in the P balloon joke, it was acceptable till a certain extent, but you overdid it like 3-4 inflations.
Your own drawings were horrible. Sorry, they were. Try harder. Spend more time on your drawings, that should work.

I did like some things tho, Mario quotes I hadnt heard before, some jokes were pretty good, they should have been executed better tho, the timing was sometimes a bit off for my taste aswell. I also liked the result of Mario plunging into the world, tho you saw it like two seconds.

Also, your explosions are fucking horrible.
Keep going tho, you're funny enough to make it work.

I really like your style. I've only seen two movies or you so far, they're not really laugh out loud funny (some good jokes tho) but they're definately constantly entertaining, which is awesome, I've not seen many toons that are just entertaining without making jokes or being violent etc. The dialogues are very very well written.

Didn't like it.

Your graphics are pretty basic, which is alright in some cases, but they were lacking much here, it feels like you've just upgraded from stick figures or something and were trying to achieve a higher level, you didnt achieve it tho. Put more time in your drawings. Especially if you're going to be using them constantly in the movie, like the dog.
I really dont like your style, but at least it got the point across which gets you some points I guess.
The timing was alright, I liked the sound, and you get extra appreciation for recording your own audio.
The story was pretty weak. The characters lacked personality. You should have worked out Charles being hit better I think.
Also, why the fuck does Charles go to doggy heaven before dying? Am I missing something here?
The way you presented your movie wasnt very good either I think.
But hey, keep trying, maybe work longer on your flashes. You'll be alright.
